JCQ have set Wednesday 26 June as a Contingency Day. All exam candidates must remain available up to and including 26 June.

For the June 2024 exams, there are also two contingency afternoons on Thursday 6 June 2024 and Thursday 13 June 2024. The standard contingency day remains at the end of the timetable on Wednesday 26 June 2024. These contingency sessions could be used in the event of national or significant local disruption to exams, so candidates must remain available for these sessions until they have taken all their exams.

St. Olave’s exam rules

All students must comply with uniform regulations when attending for examinations.

In accordance with exam board regulations no mobile phones, technologically enabled devices or wrist watches are allowed in the exam room, these should be placed in a locker before the start of the exam.

Candidates may bring water into the exam room in a clear plastic bottle without a label.  Candidates may also bring a snack or sweets provided that these are in clear plastic bag, with no other wrapping, and do not contain nuts. 

On the day of an exam

There are very strict JCQ regulations for the timing of public exams, so candidates should allow extra travel time to ensure they are outside the exam venue 15 minutes before the exam start time. If problems arise affecting arrival time candidates must contact Reception on 01689 820101.

Illness and other mitigating circumstances

It is normally best to sit an exam if feeling slightly unwell but infectious candidates may not be allowed to sit an exam and it may not be in a candidate’s best interest to sit an exam while very unwell.

Candidates should, where possible, obtain medical evidence of any illness.

Any candidate who feels unwell during an examination should notify the invigilator at the time.

Candidates experiencing other difficulties at the time of the examination should, if possible, notify the exams officer before the examination but at the latest within 24 hours of the exam.
