Our thanks to Old Olavian Alex Leggatt who spoke to pupils about his role as a new business and content executive at St Luke's advertising agency based in vibrant Covent Garden today.

Alex impressed upon students the importance of taking time to discover what they enjoy doing and to treat every day as an adventure. His other top tip was to make yourself indispensable as an intern and you will be noticed.

Biographical information

Alex Leggatt is an Old Olavian and has many fond memories of his time at Olave’s. He was at school from 2010 - 2017. After school, he headed up north to Durham University, where he graduated with a 1st class degree in English Literature. Lockdown hit during his final year, whilst he was in the process of applying for a Masters at both Oxford and Cambridge.  Luckily for Alex, he was offered a place at Cambridge to study Modern and Contemporary Literature, where he studied for another year.

After some brief stints working in a cafe in Keston and a local pub in Locksbottom, he managed to get a job as an Intern at an advertising agency called St Luke’s. After 6 months as an Intern, he made such fast progress, he was then made permanent. His (newly created) role is now “New Business and Content Executive”. As part of his role, he helps the pitch team with the (often fast-paced!) pitch process.  He also helps to produce recruitment advertising for the advertising agency itself - encouraging recent graduates to give St Luke’s a try. Alex is a poet and take photos in his spare time.
