Yr 10 Classics trip to Hadrian’s Wall

17 Jul 2025
Members of Year 10 have been enjoying the Classics Department trip to Hadrian’s Wall trip during our Activity Week 2, which has included visits to the Roman archaeological sites and hikes along parts of Hadrian’s Wall and historical and cultural activities in Newcastle upon Tyne.
In between walking the wall, they have enjoyed visits to the Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne, Vindolanda, Housesteads Roman Fort, the Roman Army Museum, Birdoswald, Segedunum Roman Fort and Durham Cathedral.
The Wall remains one of the most famous monuments of the Roman occupation of Britannia and is testament to the civilisation’s ambition, engineering prowess and continuing importance today when barriers to mark national borders are still a fact of life for many.
