Welcome new Yr 7: 2023 Entry

We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students and their parent(s)/carer(s) over the coming months, in the meantime we hope you find the following information helpful in making your child’s transfer to St. Olave’s as smooth as possible.

A day in the life of Year 7..

New and used Uniform Sale 

Sixth Form Centre

Thursday 25 May 2023,  

4.30 pm – 6.00 pm

Transition Evening (for parents / carers and students):

Wednesday 28 June 2023,

 6.00 pm – 8.30 pm

Induction Day (for students):  

Students to meet under the Chapel. Students to be collected from the Park Avenue Gates

  • New Year 7 students will undertake a typical day’s timetable, meet staff and get to know key areas of the School
  • Students should wear their primary school uniform and bring a pencil case, PE Kit and a packed lunch (PLEASE DO NOT SEND FOOD CONTAINING NUTS)
  • Students will be provided with a Survival Guide and a transition pack for the summer holidays. which is also available to download opposite:

Tuesday 4 July 2023,

8.40 am – 3.15 pm

First Day of Autumn Term (Induction Day)
Students to meet under the Chapel and will exit via Park Avenue Gates

  • New Year 7 students should wear full school uniform and bring their school bag containing a pencil case, their Survival Guide, their transition pack and a packed lunch.

Wednesday 30 August 2023, 

9.50 am – 3.30 pm

Tutorial Day (REMOTE)

These will be held remotely, through Microsoft Teams at allotted times.

Students will meet online (via Teams) with Form Tutors for a 10 minute appointment.

Lessons commence

Register in Form Rooms 8.40 am

Students to arrive in school uniform with all equipment ready for a full day of school (including games kits)

Year 7 Information & PA Evening for new Year 7 Parents/Carers

This will comprise:

  • A short presentation of important information
  • details about what your child will be studying at KS3, how best to support his homework and information on assessment
  • Presentation from the Parents’ Association
  • An opportunity to meet informally with other Year 7 parents/carers

Transition work for completion:

Resources will be circulated to students during their Induction Day on 4 July 2023 and will be published immediately below, shortly after this

These will include work your child is expected to complete over the summer holidays in preparation for starting at St. Olave’s which comprise brief introductions to some of the subjects they will be studying from September.
