Students attend High Performance Computing & Artificial Intelligence focus day
Well done to Aarush Gandham, Shubh Gupta, Maxim Pathirana and Zixuan Fu who recently attended an event run by Alcesflight in collaboration with UCL and the STEP-UP program.
The day was held at UCL in East Marshgrate and introduced the students to the technologies, skills, and communities behind modern High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Students gained hands-on experience with the components and infrastructure used to build and operate modern HPC and AI systems, they took part in Mini-Challenges, worked in small teams to design a computing system while balancing budget, power, storage, networking, and performance.
This was an opportunity to explore the technical and non-technical roles that support HPC and AI, and learn how different skills contribute to the wider research computing community.
