Physics Olympiad Success

11 Mar 2025

We reported in January of student success in the Physics Olympiad Round 1. Since then, our amazing students have gone on to do even better!

The Astrophysics and Astronomy Olympiad is a really fiendishly difficult competition. Round 1 was sat in February, and saw an amazing set of results: Devaansh Lulla (in Y12, competing against mostly Y13 students across the country) - Top Gold, Ethan Chan – Silver, John Prineas – Silver, Aashman Kumar – Silver, Ethan Rauteray – Silver, Shaurya Mehta (also Y12) – Bronze.

Following on from these 2 competitions, some of our students were invited to take part in the Round 2 events for each of the Olympiads. In the Physics Olympiad Round 2, our two competing students were Ojas Tiwari (Y14) and Aashman Kumar. They both obtained Gold, the top award at Round 2. In the Astro Olympiad Round 2, Ojas Tiwari obtained Gold, Aashman Kumar obtained Silver, and Devaansh Lulla obtained Bronze.

All these competitions, apart from being a great challenge in their own right, are part of the selection process for the International Physics Olympiad and International Astro Olympiad Teams. As part of this, a very small number of students are selected nationally to be invited to the Training and Selection Camps which run at Oxford University.

This year, we are over the moon that both Ojas Tiwari and Aashman Kumar have received invitations for these camps.

This will be a super experience for these students, and may lead to selection for the international competitions, but we will wait to see about that!
