Memorial Rugby Match - Harry McAleer

On Saturday 27 January 2024, many Olavians, family and friends (including those from St. Olave's Grammar School and Cambridge University) joined us for a rugby celebration to celebrate the life of much loved Old Olavian Harry McAleer.

The principle game, Cambridge Old Boys vs St. Olave's Old Boys proved a great match in the crisp spring sunshine and was very well supported and accompanied by a wonderful BBQ, cakes and music.

This was an opportunity, not only to collectively remember Harry but also to to raise funds towards the legacy garden project in the St. Olave's Wellbeing Garden.

The old 'Headmaster's garden' is going to be adapted to make it a quiet, reflective space for students who want time away from the hustle and bustle of the school day. We intend to add more options for seating, sensory planting features, and perhaps offer students the chance to grow produce for the kitchens if they wish.
