Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award

The first Year 10 cohort of Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award students were out and about at the weekend.
They started in Sevenoaks on Friday evening, where they were trained in camp craft - putting tents up, keeping their camping area tidy and cooking their dinner using the Trangias.
They then camped overnight, cooked breakfast and cleared up their equipment on Saturday morning. They spent the morning walking and navigating - being trained by their instructors.
The teams made good progress and listened carefully to their instructors. On reaching the next campsite they were assessed on their camp craft.
On Sunday they were remotely supervised and their walking, teamwork and navigation skills were assessed.
Instructors commented on the enthusiasm and resilience of the students. Their levels of teamwork were impressive and they made good time getting back to St. Olave's - the end point of their expedition. Thanks to Mr Carroll, Mr Szczyrba, Mr Twose and Mr Jewson, without whose help this trip would not have been possible. Thanks also to our DofE Young Leaders - Laura and Lewis who came along to watch the teams progress and to help motivate them.
