Bath Cricket Tour

During half term the Year 8 cricket squad travelled to Bath for a cricket tour. Although the weather did not look promising, a training session in Bath Cricket Club’s indoor net facility meant we were well-prepared for our forthcoming fixtures.
We played Bath CC on the Tuesday in a 10-over contest, curtailed by the weather. It ended as a tie with both teams on 66 runs, but meant we had plenty to discuss and look to put into practice in the next matches. Against Thornbury CC we played a test match-style match with each team having two 20 over innings – a great opportunity for everyone to get at least one opportunity to bat and bowl.
We won by 3 wickets in a game that could have gone either way and was a great experience for us. An evening of ten-pin bowling and a morning visit to the Roman Baths provided a break from the cricket before we played Chippenham CC on the last day.
A convincing win was a fitting way to end the tour. The boys were an absolute credit to themselves and the school, they were very receptive to learning and made significant improvements as a squad. Well done to everyone involved.
