We were very fortunate to have a sunny day - or at least brief glimpses of sunshine for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award training walk on Saturday.

Students showed real resilience tackling a 12 mile walk with some serious hills. They were rewarded with breathtaking views over Otford, Shoreham and Kemsing. There were some great snacks on display, with mini-sausages being a popular choice, which kept students well fuelled and in good spirits!

The major aims of the training walk were to ensure students had appropriate kit for their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and also to check their fitness levels will cope with the Welsh mountains.

Some kit was questionable but students have sufficient time to make improvements here. Their fitness, though, was brilliant and they completed the walk in impressive time and in muddy conditions.

Well done to the students! Thank you to the staff supporting the trip - Dr Sidhu, Miss Dinkova and Mrs Wiltshire.
