IMG 09887B had a fantastic French study day at the British Film Institute.  They were really inspired by the 3 short films as well as the amazing animation Le Petit Nicolas: Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux.

All films were shown in French with subtitles and had interactive elements which probed into the key values of what it means to be individual, inclusive and accepted.  Values which align perfectly with our school ethos.  Thus, our pupils were able to put themselves into the shoes of Louis, a young boy whose hearing is impaired.  Louis can only hear properly when wearing his hearing aid.  The story evoked both compassion and a sense of celebration; how we should champion differences, while always seeking to help and understand those who may not always see or hear the world as we do.

Finally, Le Petit Nicolas: Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux offered a sense of escapism as we traced a curious  little boy's experiences of life in Paris.  The film was based upon the much loved Petit Nicolas books written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Jean-Jaques Sampé.  The narrative, music and beautiful visual elements really enhanced the film and paid homage to the books .

The pupils should be commended for their excellent behaviour and efforts to participate during the interactive tasks.  It was a superb study day which challenged, engaged and enriched our minds.
