Robotics Competition - Southampton University

Over the last 5 months a group of Year 12 students have been working hard to design, build and program an autonomous robot to compete in a national competition against other schools. This culminated in travelling down to the University of Southampton to compete in the finals this weekend.
On our arrival our robot was having technical difficulties which we had to address. Over the weekend the team worked hard to get the robot working as effectively as possible based on what we had with us. This hard work and inability to accept defeat was finally rewarded with a win in our 14th match and making it into the knockout rounds. It was only a matter of centimetres that meant we were knocked out in the first round rather than progressing.
The camaraderie which had developed which was testament to the skills and team work that all participants had developed over the competition. The lessons that we have learnt will be invaluable in coming back next year stronger.
Thank you to Mr Savage for spending so many hours after school and at weekends helping us to prepare for the competition over the last few months and to both Mr Savage and Mr Clegg for accompanying us to Southampton.
