Aaravamudhan Balaji - Spectacular Chess Achievements

Congratulations to Aaravamudhan who achieved phenomenal success in competitive chess this summer.

Aaravamudhan obtained his maiden International Master Norm in the Psyon Chess Masters IM Norm Invitational tournament at London Mind Sports which was held between 7th Aug and 11 Aug 2023. Aaravamudhan scored crucial victories in must win games in rounds 8 and 9, and scored 7 points out of 9 rounds. He came first and also obtained his maiden IM Norm.

Aaravamudhan also played in the British Chess Championships held at the De Montfort University, Leicester between 22nd - 30th July 2023. He won the U21 second place prize at the event. 

Earlier in July, Aaravamudhan played in the Scottish Chess Championships held at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline between 7th - 9th July 2023. He scored a perfect 5/5. In the penultimate round he beat International Master Andrew J Muir, and in the final round he beat Edwin A Spencer to become the 2023 Scottish Open Champion.
