Artist of the Week - 11 March 2026

Alex and Gabriel (Year 8 and Year 13)

The second in our Royal Academy Youth Art Summer Show entrants, this painting has been produced collaboratively by Alex and Gabriel. The painting makes connections to traditional still life painting, especially ideas communicated through vanitas and memento mori. Alex and Gabriel's vibrant colour scheme shares an aesthetic with contemporary painters; this work is eye-catching with a deeper meaning. It has been great to see students from different year groups working together.

At Art Club, students explored abstract forms and shapes using the gelli plate technique. Akshaj and Alistair from 7B created truly exceptional prints, showing a strong understanding of the theme and making excellent use of composition and colour.
