Success at Spelling Bee regional finals - March 2026

On Tuesday 10th March, four of our brilliant Year 7 linguists (Caleb Hanna, Ojas Srivastava, Aditya Kashyap and Akshadh Subramanian) took on the challenge in French, Spanish and German at the Regional Language Spelling Bee Finals at Rokeby school in London — and came away with an outstanding three medals between them!

Competing against 40 top spellers from across the region, the team impressed judges with their accuracy, pronunciation and lightning-fast recall of vocabulary. They were able to spell between 15 to 23 words in a minute.

Their success doesn’t stop there: the medal winners have now qualified for the National Finals this summer at Cambridge University, where they will compete against the best young linguists in the UK. Dr Pickett will be organising this trip like last year and was very impressed by how strong the competition was.

A huge congratulations to all four students for representing the school with such dexterity and determination. Cambridge, here we come…  vamos, allons-y, Wir sind unterwegs!!
