Artist of the Week - 14 April 2026

Madhav is the next featured artist from the Olavian entrants to the Royal Academy Youth Art Summer Show. Madhav used acrylic paint to depict a family scene with an excellent level of detail. He captured the light from the original image with a skilful command of colour mixing and understanding of contrast. Hopefully this will be recognised by the adjudicators!

Year 9 students have been exploring modern architecture through an exciting design brief titled “St. Olave’s Reimagined: Learning Spaces for the Next 20 Years.” Recognising that many school buildings were not designed with climate change, mental wellbeing, new technologies, flexible learning, or sustainability in mind, students took on the role of young architects. They were challenged to redesign one existing building within the school to better meet the needs of future students in 2045. Using foam board, students developed imaginative architectural models that demonstrate thoughtful consideration of space, structure, and purpose.

The outcomes showcase a fantastic balance of creativity and problem-solving, with designs that respond to the challenges of the future while rethinking the spaces we use every day.
