The Academic Journal 2026 showcases the remarkable breadth of intellectual enquiry at St Olave’s, bringing together student work that spans disciplines from science and mathematics to economics, politics and philosophy. Across the journal, contributors tackle complex and often contemporary issues from artificial intelligence and quantum computing to climate change, inequality and fundamental questions about the universe.
This demonstrates both academic rigour and genuine curiosity. At its heart, the collection reflects a school culture in which independent thinking, interdisciplinary exploration and a passion for knowledge are strongly encouraged.

Particular thanks are due to Vice Captain, Eashan, for his leadership in editing the journal. His foreword captures this spirit of curiosity and intellectual ambition, as well as the supportive environment that allows such work to flourish.
